We are back! After a brief hiatus, we are excited to be sharing more adventures, gear advice, and helpful tips & tricks once again. We also want to hear from YOU with regard to what you would like to have discussed. Whether you want to learn how to build a better layering system for late-season waterfowl hunts or want to see content that inspires you to get out and pursue your passions, let us know by reaching out via the form in the “Contact” section of our website. You can find that HERE.

With Thanksgiving having come and gone, and Christmas and the New Year ahead, the Holidays are upon us. This time of year elicits a bounty of memories and traditions that vary between all of us. For some, it is the simple joy of being with loved ones. For others, it may include a highly anticipated annual adventure or escapade. As for myself, it is the annual hunting trips that I treasure the most.

While these adventures vary from elk and deer hunts with my family to waterfowl or upland bird hunts, my most recent was a pheasant hunt spent in the fields of Eastern Colorado.

Tradition

For my family, the months between November and January have often been spent chasing these beautiful birds in the corners of recently harvested corn circles. It is a simple tradition that is always concurrent with the holidays. Most of the time I find myself walking the fields with the older generations of my family, listening to their stories that have accumulated over the decades and the continual mocking that takes place after a bird escapes the poorly placed blast of their shotguns. It often feels like Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas morning all wrapped up into a single moment.

ROOSTER!

However, on this late November weekend, I was alone and enjoying the solitude of the seemingly endless fields of Eastern Colorado. Sometimes, these traditions can be just as special alone as they are with loved ones. A shotgun, a field, and the occasional wild bird can be a good way to slow down from the hustle and bustle that frequents this time of year.

Solitude

Now that we find ourselves in the thick of the Holiday season, don’t be afraid to spend some time alone. It does not have to be anything grandiose, as even simple moments of solitude can have a profound impact amidst the busyness of life. Sometimes, all we have to do is go, be still, and listen.

Do you have an awesome adventure or moment of solitude that you want to share? Let us know! We love hearing from you.

Quick Pick

Curious about some of our favorite pieces of gear here at LeoAdventures? Well, here is one of my most favorite pieces; The Gunner WS Glove. These bad boys are good for everything from chopping wood to late-season hunts.

The Gunner WS Glove by Sitka Gear is an excellent pair of gloves for a variety of uses and weather conditions. While not fully waterproof, the GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ with WINDSTOPPER© cuts out the wind and adds a strong amount of protection from the elements, while maintaining a low-profile design. The modified shooting finger allows for great dexterity when needing to make the shot, and the durable goatskin leather stands up to years of wear-and-tear.

Make sure to check them out on Sitka’s website and don’t forget to use your LeoAdventures Code! I have medium-large hands and the medium fits great. Sitka is also running a “friends and family” promotion, so be sure to check your email inbox to find out more about how to make these an awesome Christmas gift!
